Same summer, thinner crowds
The short answer
September is the best month to visit Taormina.
Arguably the best trade-off of the year: full summer conditions, a fraction of the August crowd.

What’s on in Taormina in September
- Cruise-ship day-trippers
- Most of the midday crush arrives by coach from Messina and Catania. Visit Isola Bella and the Teatro Antico before 9am or after 5pm, and skip Corso Umberto between 11am and 4pm — the side streets running off it can feel surprisingly calm even in August.
