De Pijp
One of Amsterdam's most energetic neighbourhoods, with a local feel, independent shops, cafés, street life and the Albert Cuyp area. It's a great place to wander without needing a strict itinerary.

Destination
Weather, crowds, prices and events for all twelve months — and one clear recommendation.
My recommendation
May
May is the sweet spot for Amsterdam: spring is in full swing, the days are long and the city feels alive without the peak-summer crowds. April is also excellent, while June through August brings the strongest summer atmosphere but more visitors.
Least crowded
January
Cold and dark, but much quieter than the rest of the year.
Best weather
July
Warmest summer conditions and long days for exploring the city outdoors.
Best value
January
Lower demand and generally better accommodation rates than the spring and summer peak.

Personal insight
Having visited Amsterdam many times, I personally prefer April through August. Amsterdam simply feels more alive during these months, with terraces out, long days and the canals at their best. I would avoid King's Day and Pride if you dislike crowds.
